Looking back on 2020, I want to take a moment to reflect. First of all, we made it! Through a pandemic, murder hornets (where did those go?), wildfires, and so much more. But what we have not just survived, we have thrived. As a community and as a society. So much good has been done, so much charity has been given, and so many people have connected (from six feet apart, of course!)

We never expected to be in the place we are in now. A year ago, this website did not exist, so we want to take a moment and thank you, our dear family, from the bottom of our hearts. It is you, each one of you, that helps Devorah and I continue on this journey. We can’t wait for you all to see the amazing plans we have for 2021!

XO,

  • Author: Rachel
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 35 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 1 Bundt Cake or 12 Mini Cakes 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Cake:

1 & 1/4 cups white sugar

2 eggs

2 tsp. orange zest

1/4 cup triple sec

1/4 cup orange juice

1/2 cup  canola oil

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

2 cups flour

Glaze:

1/3 cup powdered sugar

2 tsp. orange juice

1 tsp. orange zest

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325˙
  • In medium bowl mix sugar, eggs, and orange zest until just combined
  • Add in the rest of wet ingredients (triple sec, orange juice, oil) and mix.
  • Add in the dry ingredients (baking soda, baking powder, salt, flour) and stir until just combined
  • Spray a bundt pan with floured cooking spray or grease and flour your bundt pan
  • Make sure not to over grease your pan or the outside of your cake could “fry” and become crispy. A light coating is all you need
  • Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown on top
  • After removing from oven wait 10 minutes or until cake is only slightly warm and flip onto a serving plate.
  • When the cake has fully cooled mix the glaze ingredients together and drizzle it over the cake

Notes

The zest of 1 medium orange should be enough for both the cake and the glaze

This recipe can also be made in a single bundt pan – the bake time is the same

This cake is so delicious! With just the right amount of orange flavor, it’s something different from the same old flavors yet not overbearing. It went fast in our house!!

This looks amazing! I want it to be “drunken” in order to send out 2020 with a bang, but I don’t have triple sec. Can I replace it with Vodka or any other alcohol?

    • Rachel

You can substitute equal amounts of any other orange liqueur including Grand Marnier, Cointreau, or Curacao. The issue with Vodka is it doesn’t lend the same orange flavor.

Amazingly delicious recipe! I usually try to avoid baking as I usually end up messing it up, but I just HAD to try this recipe. Not only was it super simple to make, it came out delicious and so moist! This cake will definitely be a weekly regular in my house from now on!

I was served this cake on Saturday. Sunday I proposed to the chef. Must be more than just triple sec 😉
